Take a Hike!

My Gear List

What an interesting process this has been! I've been camping and hiking since I was a very young boy and yet selecting gear for this trip has been a real roller coaster ride. I started with too much, cut back to too little, and now I think I'm zeroing in on it.

Let me add that I don't consider myself a gear-head, nor am I an ultralight fanatic. I want to carry what I need and nothing else. I'm also 6 foot 1 inch with a large frame and my most comfortable personal weight is about 210 pounds (I'm 30 pounds overweight at this time). This lets me carry 45 pounds on my back much more comfortably than someone who weighs in at 120 pounds soaking wet!

This will probably change again, but here is the current list. I'll add weights soon, but the total weight without food is currently 34 pounds.
