Katahdin Summitted: 9/21/99, Tuesday, 11:30am Yee Haw!
Hi. My name is Tim Hewitt. Thanks for visiting my Appalachian Trail Take a Hike!
page. What follows are bits and pieces of my planning for a thru-hike of
the Appalachian Trail starting in the Spring of 1999. Follow along if you like.
My Journal will be online here once I start hiking,
and will be interactive, so you can participate in my hike!
I have a trail name, which won't surprise many of you. Paddler
is the name I'll hike under. I'm not planning on bringing a canoe - at least not
one that I can paddle.

time where I'll actually be and when, so if you want to mail me a box of cookies, you'll
know where to send them to make sure I'll get them :).
- Please use my revised maildrop list
(also updated 7/3/99) if you REALLY want to find me on the trail.
- My Gear List always being tweaked a little.
- Alcohol Fuel Test for the Trangia stove
- Food!, yes this is an obsession of mine
- Please sign my guestbook - leave me an inspirational message!
- Follow along and participate in my Interactive Journal
- My Initial Mail Drop List and Initial Hiking Plan
are online. The Hiking Plan is in either HTML or
Excel 5 format. The reality of my plan is that it's
just a starting point - something to measure progress against - so we know it will change. Feel free to use this spreadsheet to assist you in
developing your own hiking plan. however be sure to hike your own hike!
